Gyrokinesis exercises are practiced sitting on a stool, lying on a mat and standing. Three-dimensional circular, undulating and spiraling movements mobilize the spine and joints. The movements are sequential and integrated together with a specific breathing pattern in a harmonious, rhythmic flow, similar to a dance.
The class has three distinct parts.
The first part is the "awakening of the body; the preparation to move. Therefore you take time to connect with the body and breath. In this phase, you loosen your shoulders and neck.
The second part is a series of undulating, circular and spiraling movements of the spinal column, designed to create inner warmth and flexibility.
The third stage is a series of exercises that strengthen your heart and upper body and gently lubricate the joints of the hips and legs. All components stimulate the organs and create energy and a sense of harmony within.
Gyrokinesis exercises strongly focus on the balance of the spine and therefore are very suitable for people with joint problems, scoliosis or for those whose occupation is unilateral taxing or stressful. The spine is closely related to the nervous system. The rhythmical movements calme down the nerves and stimulate the lymphatic system.
