When we want to solve our movement problems - mobility problems, stiffness, recovery from an injury or surgery - or when we just try to become fitter and more flexible, it is important to move well at all levels from lying down to standing. The most profound changes and improvements in movement ability and pain relief take place below the level of standing and walking.
In the lessons ‘A Step Beyond’ we experience how the basic movements that form the movement alphabet are combined into functional patterns, the original words and sentences of movement. Think of breathing, rolling, turning, pushing, reaching, sitting, kneeling, getting up ... Questions may arise like: How can we use our joints in a better way? How do we sense the elasticity of our fascia? What is actually 'good posture’? How do we initiate movement from our core? By means of simple movement sequences we practice the new skills. Through this process we develop skill, insight, confidence and grace that can be applied in any situation.
The lessons are relaxing, the pace is calm so that the experience in the here and now can be felt and integrated. If you want to move better or just be curious about another way to experience your body, these lessons might be something for you.
