GYROKINESIS® classes
Yoga for your spine
A stiff back or neck from sitting. Joints that feel stiffer than they used to. Or a body that, after a day's work, mostly holds on to tension. Gyrokinesis classes are there to help your spine, and with it your whole body, feel supple, open and energised again.
Moving like a cat
The first part of the class takes place on a stool, with your feet firmly on the floor, in the position you may know from chair yoga. Then comes a part on the mat, sitting, lying or standing. Circles, waves, side bends and spirals: the movements your spine can make by nature, inspired by the way animals move. It's a continuous flow, carried by the rhythm of your own breath, and it feels almost like a dance. Afterwards you move more freely, and everything feels easier than when you came in. And no aching muscles the next day.
Want to see how it moves?
The people moving in this video are master trainers, the teachers I study with myself. Watch not what they can do, but how they move: undulating, effortless, as if in water. The first time I saw this, I thought: I want that too.

Good for stiff joints and a demanding job
Gyrokinesis exercises balance the spine, which makes them good for joint problems, scoliosis, a hollow or rounded back, or work that's repetitive or stressful. The exercises are adapted to what you can do.
After everything I'd tried, Gyrokinesis is the first thing that has really helped me. The exercises aren't strenuous, they don't hurt, and you're not worn out after a class. When my lower back hurts, I now know which exercises help.
